The president called the meeting to order with a welcome andintroductions followed.  Lorean Darby Henryinvited all to the FCB Metro Chapter picnic on 10/16/10 from 10:00 – 1:00 andyou can call her @ 305-836-2125 for details. The white cane walk is @ the lighthouse 10/15/10.
 
The minutes and treasurer’s report with balance of $2,020.41were accepted as read.
 
Micky Gonzalez from the Office of Emergency Management wasour guest speaker.  A DVD and publicationare available in accessible format upon request.  They now have special needs beds forsheltering.  They are working with makingthe website accessible with sign language captioning.  She is willing to try and get service animalsaccepted in at least outpatient rehabilitation facilities during a storm.  OEM will be at the ADA Explosion expo onOctober 21 and NFB will try and have a table, too.
 
Denise mentioned that she was appointed to the selectioncommittee for the current RFP as the rider representative and that oralpresentations would be given and a number was given for people to listen byphone.  A motion carried for NFB Miami tocontinue supporting ATS only for our STS. It was mentioned that Denise had to carry out her responsibility as amember of the committee.  She could notdiscuss more because of the cone of silence.
 
Bob has used computers that he needs monitors and parts forto give people working computers.
 
Carmen’s birthday is this month and Wayne is not doing well.  It is only a matter of time.
 
Ana has chocolates for our fundraiser if anyone wants to buysome.  She is collecting raffle tickets,stubs, and money from members so that all can be turned in by the deadline forthe raffle.
 
The next STS riders meeting is September 7, 2010.
 
Willie thanked Ross for calling everyone every month.
 
The 50/50 total was $24 of which Melissa Wiggins won$12.00.  We collected $11 happydollars.  The meeting adjourned at8:20pm.
