Subject: [Sportsandrec] Texas sports event for youth- October 21 & 22

Hello everyone,
Sports Extravaganza is a multi-sport event for students ages 0-22 (ages 18-22 not yet graduated from high school) with visual impairments and is held each October in Irving, TX. This event has sports and activities for students with visual impairments of all ages and abilities. Events include track and field, goalball, archery, golf hit for distance, low organized games for infants and VI/multiply impaired, and more! This is a 2 day event including the goalball tournament and lunch is provided free of charge on the second day (October 21 & 22)

Sports Extravaganza for Blind and Visually Impaired applications were mailed last week! However, only athletes who attended last year are on our mailing list. So, please make sure we reach all the students within the state of Texas and all surrounding states and invite them to this great event. You may accomplish this by forwarding this email to all the CTVI, COMS, DBS, APE, parents and any others with whom you have contact. In addition, please make copies of the attached application and have them available at your professional development sessions and parent meetings.

Sports Extravaganza is celebrating its 13th year in Irving, TX on October 21 & 22, 2011. Because of the rapid growth of the Goalball Tournament, this is the third year we will be hosting the Beginner Players on October 21, 2011 and hosting the Advance Players in a tournament on March 2-3, 2012, also in Irving, TX.

Sports Extravaganza applications are available in English and Spanish on the Region 10 ESC website at:
http://www.region10.org/ssvi/Sports_Extravaganza.html
More information about volunteers and sponsorships is also on this site.

There are several possible opportunities to assist families with travel expenses to attend Sports Extravaganza: Contact your local Division of Blind Services caseworker; All Blind Children will be offering scholarships at http://www.abctx.org/;or you may contact Christy Householter at the email or phone below to assist is contacting your local Lions Club for possible sponsorship.

Thanks so much for your assistance in making the 2011 Sports Extravaganza a success,

Christy
