Hi Eric,

I suggest you get a Schwin.  I had a nice Schwin tandem that I just sold
this spring because I wasn't really using it.  It was a mountain bike style
and it was really nice.  I'm not sure what they cost now but I paid $$350
for it new.

Riding a tandem does take some getting used to.  the balance and pedeling is
very different from a single bike.  You have to really coordinate starts and
stops etc.
