Gary and all,

The AdapTap is being sold online at:
www.kiefer.com
Search for AdapTap.

When working with the AdapTap it is possible to swim and not have to use
human bonkers/tappers. You can efficiently identify when and where to do
flip turns and much more. I have always liked the idea because if you swim
straight then you can stay away from the lanelines that tear you up and slow
you down. AdapTap also encourages me to swim other strokes besides free
style cause I don't worry about hitting my head at the end.

I believe the pack of four pieces needed to detect the end of the lane are
under $30, but don't quote me on that.

I was a part of the initial group that tested it. Although I have not had
time to try the end product, I hope to do so in the next week. If someone
has not reported experiences from using it, I'll be glad to chime in.

Lori

Gary,
Having been a swim coach for 25 years, all working with the blind and
visually impaired, including being one coaches for the U.S. blind swim team
I
have a few suggestions. If you are swimming in a pool the lane markers will
help. You need to swim with the lane markers on your right side. This will
allow you to swim in a counter clockwise circle within the lane and if you
are
sharing the lane it will minimize crashing into others. With practice you
will
learn to feel the water wave coming back from the lane marker so you know if
your close enough. In the mean time you will occassionally scrape the lane
marker, but that shouldn't be a big deal. If it is try wearing a long sleeve
t-shirt so you don't get cut or scratched. In time this too will get better.

You can put a sound cue at the end of the lane on each end. This will give
you
a target. But this is dependent on how crowded the pool is and how good a
sound
source you choose. If this is an option let me know and I will help you
problem
solve through this.

The most important thing is if you are swimming crooked you need to have
someone
look at your stroke mechanics to make sure you are pulling equally with your
right arm and left arm. Your kick can also make you move crooked.

Feel free to contact me directly if you need anymore information.
