         I don't know, but aren't the pedals on a bike built to lock 
into cycling shoes to maxximize the bredth of revolutions? You might 
buy her a pair of cycling shoes, learning from store staff how 
to  clip in and clip out. All you need, then, is a pair of petals and 
some cycling shoes like Shimanu or Cannondale, among other brands.
It wasn't clear if you guys have a bike?
