[Sportsandrec] Yoga and Glaucoma?

I haven't asked the doctor, but I can tell when I'm doing stuff that
aggravates my glaucoma. The really big one is at the dentist. They want to
tilt your head back, but the rest of you is still flat, which means my head
ends up being lower than the rest of me. Only at this particular dentist
though, so not sure if he's just a nutjob or if this is preferred by most
other patients? We have to have a discussion about it every time I go.

There are other times like pulling weeds, where I'm bent over for long
stretches that I notice. It's pretty much solved if I kneel to pull weeds
instead of bending at the waist. Frequent breaks also solve the problem.

I don't do yoga though, so couldn't tell you. I think just paying attention
to how you feel and adjusting as necessary. I'd think there would be plenty
of yoga left even if a few of the poses don't work so well for you.

Good luck!

Well, this is becoming interesting.
My eye specialist is an ophthalmologist with 35 years experience.
He filled out my medical forms confirming my blindness which is required for
the Boston Marathon.
He filled them out twice over the past 3 years.
Funny though, he never mentioned the eye pressure we are now discussing.
Yet, running a full marathon, 26.2 miles is stressful.

Yes, I've been told to avoid doing anything increasing pressure to the head,
which includes exercise where your head is inverted.

Has anyone in this group ever been advised by the eye doctor to avoid
certain yoga poses due to Glaucoma? I'm hoping to get some reliable
information from my eye doctor soon, but I am wondering what, if anything,
people have been told by their eye doctors? Thanks.
