Bridget when number 2 starts running around you will be going in 2 different
directions at once. That will take a lot of balance and flexibility. Lol

Yes, my current one takes a lot of energy, LOL! Hopefully this second one
will be a bit more mild, grin.

Bridget, a friend of mine says running is like hitting yourself in the head
with a hammer it feels real good when you stop. Lol

I have to laugh at my younger self. I never thought this would happen to my
body. I took good health and all for granted.

I used to laugh at riders that had to use a mounting block. I just jumped
on and off the horse. I was the one who got off to open all the gates and
picked up anything that was dropped. Now I use a block or look for a rock
or something to stand on. I can still get on from the ground, but it isn't
easy or pretty!

I'm sure things will start coming back to you after you have the baby.
Pregnancy changes your balance. You will need lots of energy and fitness to
keep up with 2 small children. Lol

Nella,

Yes, running. I used to be able to run a 5 minute mile, but now, I struggle
just to jog. I jogged about a quarter of a mile last night and thought I
would die, grin. And keep in mind, I did a triathlon just back in early
July. Running just isn't coming back to me as much as I would like it too. I
know if I keep with it, the more conditioned I will become, but I'm not sure
why it's been so difficult.

I also used to be a dancer. Like ballet dancing. But since losing my sight,
my balance has been awful. I'm hoping yoga will help with my balance. I can
stand fine or walk or ride a bike with no problems, but doing things like
dancing or standing on one leg, or even going down and up stairs without
holding onto a railing can be difficult for me. And I used to be able to
leap and turn across a stage with no problem, smile.

So while I stay active and exercise regularly, I'm working on certain
skills. And being pregnant right now doesn't help, grin. But it's a process.
I'm 35, and while not old at all, I'm not exactly young anymore either. And
my flexibility is shot. Another thing I'm hoping to work on in yoga. As much
as I do cardio now, you wouldn't think I would struggle with these things,
and yet I do. We all have our mountains to climb, smile.

Mike, you're right being physically fit will make you a better rider. I've
struggled with my health the last few years and am not as good of rider as I
used to be. I certainly don't have the leg strength that I used to or the
body core strength. The core muscles really help with balance, which helps
with riding. I also worry that my reflexes aren't as fast. So if my horse
tries to jump out from under me will I be able to react in time. Then I
worry that if I come off, I'm older and with my health issues it will take
longer to recover. I love my horse and I love riding and am determined to
get back to where I was before or at least as close as I can.

Is there anyone else out there trying to get back into a sport or activity
that they used to do?

It hass been so hot and humid here it is hard to get motivated to do any
outdoor activities.

Nella

Hey
You give me more credit than I deserve, it was something that I enjoyed and
because of God happen to be OK at. I wrestled all through school and
college, so training for powerlifting was fairly easy, I competed for 12
years and had a lot of fun. I don't think you are wimpy at all, I don't
think you can be wimpy and ride horses. I've done that and it is difficult
to stay on. I know you need a lot of leg strength especially for cantering
