Thanks. I will look into these camps...so far no horse back riding. I am a
43 year old woman and yes some of these are for children only.

Why not just find a local riding instructor?

When I first started riding I took some lessons at a therapeutic riding
stable, but did not like the attitude about disabilities there. So then I
just found a local riding instructor. Over the years I've found several
instructors and clinicians who had no reservations about instructing a blind
person.

If you already have riding experience, you should have no trouble finding an
instructor who has an appropriate mount.

Good luck.

Good evening, I am looking to find a horse back riding type camp for this
summer that does not have the religious aspect. Also, that will allow me to
ride independently meaning not be lead by someone as I am an experienced
rider and just need verbal cues for safety as I do have some vision. Please
let me know if anyone has any ideas. I am in Florida. Thanks.

Hello Nella and everyone,

Once you do find instructors and coaches with positive attitudes
towards persons with disabilities if they're willing to have their contact
information included in a resource center like the one I suggested this
division create the search for such persons will be easier for other blind
and disabled athletes wishing to pursue various sporting and recreational
activities knowing that these folks have good attitudes towards their
disabled students/players.

This is not the first time I've heard of thereputic riding centers
having a less than positive attitude towards disabled riders. All the best.

Peter Donahue

Greetings. I am an experienced horse back rider and I am looking for some
type of opportunity to ride more this summer in a safe environment for a
visually impaired person that is not religiouslybased. I am looking for
other possible activities like hiking and swimming etc that are available
and a safe place for my Seeing eye dog while I am experiencing these events.
Please let me know if you have any ideas. Kindly, Jodi
