More evidence for cultivating a broader active interest for
restorative modifications or "resto-modding" in future diecast racing
leagues and clubs. So long as we are limited to stocks-only diecast
racing, any wonder the majority of vehicles are side tracked into the
scrap box unless otherwise collectible? In spite of being totally
blind, I have raced diecast cars into the sixth year of this
hobby/sport, and will participate in my fifth year of Orange Track
Racing. I collected ten castings of the supposed classic replica '67
Camaros of the metal on metal (outlaw class), probably redline capped
tires, and opening hoods if these even open at all. Not one bit fooled
when the package is labeled something like: "The Fastest Little Metal
Cars..." Most of these vehicles have vibrating, bent, or tightly
installed axels out of the package upfront. Only one '67 Camaro has
smoother spinning wheels front and back, but is lucky enough to maybe
be a great SlowPoke Class candidate (if allowed beyond outlaws). So
what's the point while having more than enough reserved vehicles most
suited for finishing race heats and maybe scoring higher places?
