Hello NFB Family!
Are you interested in playing a new blind sport and training to try out for
the national women’s blind cricket team?
For the first time in history, the United States is forming a national
women’s blind cricket team to compete in the 2025 World Cup this November.
As this is a very new sport in the United States, we do not require
applicants to have previous experience with the sport. Rather, we will
provide the selected applicants with intensive training to prepare them for
the World Cup. Those who are selected to play on the national team will
travel to India and Nepal in November of this year to compete against five
other nations in the world’s very first Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup.
All travel and accommodations for training and competition will be covered
by the Cricket Association for the Blind USA and our partners, and the
sports equipment will be provided. All you need to do is show up and give
your all to learning and playing the sport.
Please read the qualifications below, and reach out to me via the
information below if you would like to get involved either on the national
or local level.

Qualifications:
1. Sight Classification: We are specifically looking for applicants who
have partial vision, as our spaces for fully blind players have been
completely filled. In blind cricket, we play with a mixture of fully blind
and partially sighted players, and we have had an overwhelming number of
fully blind players sign up. To try out for the national team, we are
currently only accepting applications from partially sighted players.
However, if you are interested in getting involved as a fully blind player,
still reach out to get connected on the local level.
2. Age: You must be 16 or older, and unless you are exceptionally fit,
you must be under the age of 40.
3. Availability: In addition to being available for team training
programs, you must be available to travel to India for the World Cup from
October 25 to November 25. CABUSA can write letters to your employer or
school to formally request your leave of absence to help with this process.
