I vote yes to the two list idea.

not to say I mind all chat stuf, just off topic discussions, politics, 
religion, cooking, shopping, that sort of thing. Personal things about a 
persons life that deals with the writing life is perfectly great! Books, 
publishers, that sort of thing is what I like to read. So the list doesn't 
have to come to a screaming halt. Just the off topic that is not list 
related.

When Jim told us about walking down to the river, that enspired him, that 
was on topic, far as I'm concerned, but someone giving us a recipe for 
chocolate dogs, is not.
