[stylist] Thought Provoker About Love

To each his own. I don't agree that the blind should just marry the blind,
but if that what you want, then do your thing.

Justin:

Well, there you go: One more reason for the blind to marry the blind!

Really, it's cultural. Different cultures value different things. Eyes are
pretty important in mainstream American culture, for flirting, expressions
of desire, and the like.

For me, smell and texture are very important. The scent of a healthy
woman's armpits is a powerful mating call. Mainstream American women, most
of them, they screw this up by shaving their armpits and adding on yucky
deordant goo.

Shaven legs totally gross me out. It makes the skin clammy because the
natural oils are thrown off balance without hair to coil through. And
there's the sandpapery feel after a day or two. This whole shaving culture
is all about appearances, but I'm telling you, they don't know what they're
missing!

Besides, if you look at the pure economics of what women and men are
expected to do, women are much oppressed and this rapacious sexism manifests
on their bodies and their imagined obligations for appearances. This
sickens me.

But fortunately, I spend a lot more time among deaf and deaf-blind people
than with mainstream people. Deaf chic is very different. Deaf girls at my
school dressed almost exactly the same as the boys: Jeans, t-shirts,
sneakers. No baring cleavage, mini-skirts riding up and threatening to
become mere sashes, no face or lip painting. To me, they were beautiful
girls!

Curious: does the hearing blind community have a different set of values to
define beauty or desirability?

John

AT the beginning, yes. They wink at each other, and catch each other's eye.
Also, I've have heard women say I like looking into a man's eyes. Well, my
eyes aren't very nice to look into.

Does vision play an important role in the drama called love?
