You're right.  One who is blind but refuses to make it part of his or her
identity is making a choice, but in order for him or her to succeed, suicide
is in order.  Otherwise, being blind IS part of the identity, no matter
what.  Sorry, but blindness is a fact, and the only way to eradicate it
absolutely is to die.
