[stylist] helping doctors with blindness

James, My father died from complications of diabetes. His doctor stunk but
my father never questioned his judgement. Since my father had diabetes and
my mother has it, I'm a prime candidate. Both my husband and I have taken
the bull by the horns and started eating a low carb diet. Yes, I'm doing it
for the weight loss benefits, but I'm sticking to low carb as opposed to
other diets because of the benefits for diabetics. I don't have the disease
right now, but am preparing for the future. Doctors, for the most part, try
to be paternalistic. Some of this is because they care and the other part
is the MD after their name which gives them the right to know better than
anyone else.
