For the rules of punctuation with quotation marks, I would suggest
checking out the book, Grammar Girl's Quick and Dirty Tips for Better
Writing Mignon Fogarty. She has a section on punctuation with
quotation marks and parathenthises, among many other quick and dirty
tips. It's a great book to reference to for quick check-up. It's
available from the NLS BARD site.
