Welcome to Stylist, Ashley! I am Myrna, a 55-year-old mom of three and
grandmother to almost six. My eye condition is genetic in nature but, in a
nutshell, I am severely myopic, have an astigmatism, and a color perception
disorder which falls under the color-blindness umbrella though I can see
color. I mostly write poetry and short prose but every now and then a short
story or article will leak from my pen. I am a large print reader though I
do know Braille.
The challenges of a writer vary of course but with most of us one of the
most frustrating is getting published. I too have gone the self-publishing
route and have two books of poetry of my own and one collaboration with a
long time friend. I'm working on the fourth manuscript I Hear a Sparrow
which I am taking serious time with because it is the most personal writing I
have done and, in many ways, the most critical of.
Again welcome...nice to meet you!

Myrna

Hi all,

I am new here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ashley
Bramlett. I'm visually impaired but use jaws and braille. I graduated from
Marymount University in May 2009
with a BA in liberal studies
My studies focussed on psychology and communication.

Currently I'm looking for work. I'm probably going to work in the county
government or nonprofit sector. To obtain my first job I'm pretty open as
long as the job uses my skills and talents.
I really enjoy writing, more in the nonfiction area, and thought about
being a writer on the side. In any case I'm sure I'll do lots of writing on
my job. I hope to work in some outreach capacity or public relations or
public affairs.
I thought I'd join to find out what you do as writers and see what
challenges you encounter as a writer.

I'll have some questions soon. I look forward to chatting with you all.

Have a good day.

Ashley
