[stylist] phrase question

Hello gang,
there is a phrase for hard liquor, even wine, etc.  you don't often 
hear it these days.  the last  word in it is "spirits."  there is 
"riotous spirits" a less common phrase, but I'm trying to get the 
more common phrase.
   anybody place this phrase?

my wife is some better but the medical  professionals are not quite 
sure what to do now.
