[stylist] Not okay to be blind...

As I grew up my mother really ignored my blindness which sent me the message
that it was something not to address. I felt like it was something I
shouldn't have, shouldn't be, and so I did everything I could to be like
sighted kids.

All except for the reading and writing of braille. It took me a long time
not to feel like a broken sighted person. Because that is how I felt. I was
a sighted person with something wrong with me. I know now, many years later,
that it is okay to be a blind person. It doesn't make something wrong with
me.

Funny, I didn't even realize at the time I felt that way. It was only after
a few conversations with Robert Newman, after I'd become an adult, that I
realized that was what it was.

Then I progressively changed it.

Sincerely,
Atty
