Subject: [stylist] books I recommend

Hey,

I recently read the following and found them to be fabulous:

Play/poetry- For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the
Rainbow Is Enuf by Mtozake Shange
This is technically a play, but if you enjoy poetry, I would read this.
It is a riveting piece of literature that incorporates multiple artistic
expressions. It looks at issues women face, but it is so beautifully
written. It is not for everyone, but I recommend it. I found it on
RFBD (which I do not prefer, but I have not found it elsewhere yet)

Creative nonfiction memoir- Bigger Than Life: A Memoir by Dinah Lenney
Dinah is an actor and writer. Her bio is impressive. The book recounts
her father's murder and how this has influenced her life. I had the
great pleasure to hear her read from this work for a reading series my
university host each year. She was just fabulous and the book is great.
I have not found an accessible form yet, but I just bought a hard copy
and scanned it. Lenney experiments with form and structure, which I
like. I strongly encourage people to read this.

I would love to hear from anyone about books, any genre, that they have
read recently and enjoyed.

Bridgit
