Yeah, I'd be a little put off by the kid, too.

Barbara,
And I, being Irving, would be scared of this eight-year-old with
his cell phone, all ready to have
his mother defend him.
The story clearly defines the fact that Santa also has his own
bad days-and Santa drinking, I don't think the kids coulda
envision them.

I hope if you do more parts to it, he encounters that little boy
again. I'd
like to know more about him and, besides his parents' divorce,
why he's so
afraid of folks. Of course, I think I'd be a little scared of a
Santa who
wanted to talk to me like he did.

Thanks to all who took the time to read and comment on my story.
Thanks also
to Bridgit for her summary of the historical origins of the
Christmas
celebration. Of course, Irving is a fictional character, and as
such, can
say and do anything I please. However, I do think the minor
theological
dialogue was correct, and not the point of the piece.

On a side note, Shawn, I enjoyed your Christmas Tree parady. I
admit it, I'm
a natural tree snob, always have been.

Brad--thanks for the musical reminder, a song I'd long forgotten
about.
And the meek shall inherit the earth...
