Brenda,

This was an interesting article, on a very serious topic. If I put on my 
editor's hat, which I always keep nearby, I might suggest you focus the 
article on your experience, and rather than mention other fires you have 
heard about, strengthen your piece with  fire statistics. Data like: each 
year more than 2500 people die and over 12,500 are injured in house fires in 
America. Experts estimate that 50% of these fires occur between Halloween 
and New Years... Perhaps it's the scientist in me, but I like statistics and 
facts. The other suggestion I have is to end your piece differently. Write 
your article, and then have something like: Five Fire Safety Tips Everyone 
Should Know, and list them. Editors, and readers, like articles with lists.
