Donna,

I have noticed your absence on Stylist, but assumed you had a lot going
on in your personal life. I'm glad all is okay with you, and I always
enjoy your articles.

I think we're all feeling the change in the economy especially as
writers. Publishing of any kind has changed so much from what it was
even ten years ago, less than that actually. You're a good writer,
though, and I know the market is in need of writers like you.

Welcome back to Stylist. What you have missed are a couple of new
Stylist members, quite a bit of haiku poetry, debate on whether or not
we should conduct formal book discussions and post book reviews on
Stylist, and the resulting decision to try both after the New Year and a
writing prompt using the holidays as a theme or setting. I think this
gives you a Cliffnotes version of what you've missed, smile.

Look forward to your voice back on Stylist.

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

Hi Friends,

I thought the list was unusually quiet and decided to check online where
I realized that I wasn't getting any Stylist mail. I visited the
archives and want to thank everyone for their support regarding my
article writing for Suite 101. I'm not sure why the link didn't work; I
will include it again after my name along with the link to my profile
page which has links to the other articles.

I wanted to answer a few questions that came up -- and bear with me, if
I missed something; I find getting around on the archives page possible
but cumbersome.

No, there's no making a living from Suite 101. Yes, if you write around
the clock and promote, promote, promote, you'll get something, but I
think I'm up to $36for almost 2 years' work -- that's not a typo, it's
thirty-six bucks, not even enough to pay my Bookshare membership.
Initially, I didn't care about the money, because I saw a need to get
blindness issues out there in the mainstream and it was something I
could do. But, what with there not being any inflation and all, it's
becoming more of an issue. My topics are varied, but I've done a lot on
blindness issues, and that is low traffic by nature, so any help you can
give by visiting my articles is much appreciated. Someone asked about
clicking on the ads, and that is factored into it as well. I'm not
allowed to do it myself, but anyone else can. I've been trying to up the
gain on my Tweeting to promote the articles. It's not something I enjoy,
but people swear it helps.

Anyway, I notice I've missed quite a bit. We've had one thing after
another since coming home from our camping trip in late October. Our
neighbor (Rich's friend of over 50 years) was in the hospital when we
returned and died less than two weeks later. As his medical power of
attorney, Rich had a lot of stuff to deal with. Then, my computer was
crashing and it spent over a week in computer rehab only to return with
many of the same issues. Then, we got 8 inches of wet, heavy snow which
took out the power. Our other neighbor's generator caught fire and
burned down their house. I'm really surprised that I've gotten anything
done at all.

Anyway, my apologies for not realizing earlier that the list simply
couldn't be that quiet and for the trouble of the link not working.

Blessings to you all,

Donna
