Hi everyone,



All of us on this list are interested in writing in some way. Are some of you also interested in community service? How about writing about community service?



My name is Chris Parsons. I'm a member of the St. Louis chapter of the NFB. I'm also the secretary of a group of NFB members who are interested in community service. We hold monthly conference calls (usually on the first Sunday of the month), and in December we began inviting guest speakers to talk about their community service experience during the first half of each meeting. We're a fairly small group right now, but we're hoping eventually to gain division status.

 

I'm also leading our group's other main project, which is a blog where people can share their community service stories and comment on the stories of others. Right now we only have an introduction posted, but by early next week we will have an interview-style story from each of our first two guest speakers. I was hoping that some of you in the Writers' Division would be interested in writing some stories for us about your community service experience or about a particular aspect of doing community service work as a blind person. If you're interested, please let me know.
