---From Mark-
I think the premise of the interview should be titled the various hats of
publishing.
As for a BIO:
Mark Taylor was born in western Kentucky; the youngest son of a Baptist
minister. When it was discovered that Mark was totally blind at birth, his
family and the church parishioners, steeped in bible-belt traditions, deemed
him to be a curse sent to his parents for unknown transgressions that his
parents must have committed. Consequently, Mark's earliest days were
anything but happy. After multiple surgeries, some residual vision was
restored to him.
Refusing to be treated like a second-class person by his own family, Mark
left home at the age of 11. He eventually found his way to the Kentucky
School for the Blind where he eventually became the nation's first AFS
legally blind exchange student. Mark traveled to Australia in 1985 where,
in addition to his studies, he landed a permanent gig as a singer/pianist at
the Sheraton Hotel in Perth.
After returning to the US, Mark eventually made his way to San Diego
California where he served as the liaison between San Diego City College and
the adaptive technology community.
In the ensuing years, in addition to serving as commissioner for two
southern California cities, Mark served as the manager of new technology at
the UCLA School of Film and Television.
In 2003, Mark founded Candle Shore Inc. in order to serve as a launch pad
from which he could re-enter the private sector and provide a launch pad
from which he could finally realize his lifelong dream of assisting those in
the blindness community with the Candle Shore BLOG.
The name Candle Shore was taken from one of Mark's, under the pen name of
Mark Marcus, previously published short stories in which the fictional city
of Candle Shore, California serves as a backdrop in which the protagonist
explores online dating for the first time.
In 2011, Candle Shore Inc. launched Candle Shore Publishing which
immediately published Mark Marcus' first collection of short stories and
poems under the title, "That's The Way Love Goes."
FROM THE BOOK JACKET:
"That's The Way Love Goes", as the title suggests, is a collection of short
stories that explore and exalt the emotion of love in its most humbling
arenas.
Each story is set in a world of unnamed characters who must deal with the
inevitable trials and tribulations, rights and responsibilities, privileges
and pitfalls of the universe's most compelling emotion.
Two people who want to become lost find each other in "The Meeting", a
daughter forced to defend the greatest act of love in a courtroom in "The
Witness", a prison guard who must rise above his station for humanity's sake
in "The Letter", a young woman who must accept the events of her past so she
can embrace the future in "Comin' Home", two ex-lovers who continue to fall
into and out of each other's lives in "A Trip to Vaulden", a young boy
leaving home cloaked only in the faith of his deceased grandmother in
"Cameo", and an old bitter woman who witnesses her own birth in "The Cycle"
are just a few examples of tales that will offer the reader a dazzling
display of the human condition and the human heart as it struggles to
balance the world in which we live and the world which lives within us.
This book sets itself apart from others in that it is based on the premise
that it will be used as an emotional handbook of parables.
This book will appeal to all adults who need to know that they are not
alone--not by any means, on this exciting and dangerous journey we call
life.
The book is available in the iBook Store, on the Kendall and, of course, in
hardcopy.
Here are audio links to some of Mark's work.
The following are two direct links to the book's audio that are being used
