And that, Sir, is exactly what the best reason to do  them is. It's like 
writing a snippet in a journal, capturing a mood or a moment  or simply a 
fleeting thought.  I love doing them and have done quite a few  less than 40 
words.  Many have asked me how you can write anything decently  poetic in so 
few words?  Well you can...
And as far as Mondays go.. I find the rest of the days  of the week aren't 
so much different than Monday the older I get.  My kids  asked recently how 
we were celebrating my birthday this year.  My  response?  We aren't.  They 
don't buy it but it did get a chuckle or  two when I said it.

Thanks for the good words, I'm glad you liked the  poem, it's kind of a new 
thing for me but the exercise was interesting and fun  to do.  It really 
expressed my mood yesterday morning; as I get older I  do Monday's 
increasingly less well.

Excellent Shawn!!!  And as you  see they could be  of any emotional or 
non-emotional, any funny or  serious, any real or purely  fictional 
thoughts..

And Donna..  not really developed myself but done as  a  challenge on a 
site 
I help  moderate.  The original  challenge was 60 words,  then it went to 
50 

or less.. and I  thought to make it a real challenge.. 40  words.. no  more 
or  
no less.  It's been fun and the bonus for me is that it    kick started my 
writing again.

Robert... that 'pen of  curiosity'  lives in all of us,  I believe.. and I 
also think  you are much more  poetic than you  know.

These have been fun  for me to do.. and your  feedback  has me really 
thinking about  doing a book of these  short  verses.    Thank you  
everyone!

Hi Myrna,
I liked these too.  I didn't get the   original post for some reason, so I'm
doubly  glad Robert responded. Is  the  40 word poem a specific form  or
something you are  developing   yourself?

The Curiosity   piece  made me think that --- I really understand poetry as 
a
form.  It  made me  think that --- maybe somewhere in my jumble of  
thoughts,
that  I do have  heights or valleys in thought and  phrasing that could  
stand
for the poetic   voice.
