[stylist] When needing to divide a word

Here is a question for anyone with knowledge of using speech output software
and on-line dictionaries:

 

I'm taking the NLS Braille literacy transcription course through the NFB.
And I need to be able to divide words by syllables and want to use an
on-line dictionary. Which one works well?(and if you say dictionary.com-
then how the heck do you use it?)
