[stylist] Silencing pesky GreaterThan signs in emails

Thanks for the tip on the greater than signs in emails. I just tried it and
makes things easier on the ears for sure.

I was a little intimidated by the process in Jaws 12 since at one point it
was talking about the default dictionary and had fields for options with
sounds and languages.

I had to quit the process and try again a couple times to be sure I
understood what is being presented to me.

I have a fear about messing with stuff like this in case I were to make a
big mistake I don't know how to get out of.

I have one change that's happened in Word that is minor and I can work with
but I don't know how I made happen. It announces a paragraph mark every
time I come to a hard return and I'm not sure I want that, but don't ask me
how I made that happen.

When reading a message which has as part of the text a GreaterThan sign at
the beginning of each line and so with the scrolling of each passing line,
you have to hear GreaterThan, GreaterThan, GreaterThan

Want to silence that pesky GreaterThan Sign? If you use JAWS, here is how
you can do that:

Using the JAWS dictionary function-

Be in your email program (either Outlook or Outlook Express or Live Mail.

Press Insert+d to start the JAWS Dictionary.

On the button for Add, press the spacebar.

In the field of the field for "Actual Word" type in the GreaterThan Sign,
the actual simple (the shift of the period).

Tab to the next field "Replacement Word" and insert a space (just hit the
spacebar).

You are ready to tab over to the "okay" button, and press the spacebar.

Now you must save this dictionary entry so press control+s

You are finished and so press alt+F4

(This will only effect the email program. And if some day you wish to remove
this change, this dictionary entry, go back into the JAWS Dictionary and
find the field to locate and remove an entry- easy.
