[stylist] Mind mapping

Hi,
This isn't the same thing, but it reminds me of when I learned structured programming. I made up my own, vertical way, to represent the pieces of a program. To do that, I had to repeat the pieces of the program as I went further down in my plan.

Visually, when you do structured program plans, you make boxes, starting at the top, center of the page and write the name of the program in the top box. Then, all of our programs had three sections. Visually, you would space down below the main program name and write the three program sections equally spaced horizontally across the page.

If the three program sections broke down into smaller parts, you'd write their names in their sections of the page.

There was a symbol for a program section that would be used in more than one section of a program.

The lowest level of the structure chart, as it was called, outlined the computer instructions for each program section that wasn't broken down further.

Instead of horizontally representing my programs, I vertically represented them as lists of section names. I double--spaced between each group, and repeated the titles of groups, with the titles centered.

It worked.

Jim

The website http://www.mind-mapping.co.uk/make-mind-map.htm illustrates the process of creating a mind map and provides an image of one as well. This mind map illustration shows the structure of the mind mapping process. With the help of a sighted person, I translated this mind map image into a Word document using an outline. With a little luck the Word document should be attached below.

Yes, you could use PowerPoint to create a mind map (after the fact). I think the complexity and slowness of PowerPoint would hinder the creative flow of the Mind Mapping process. However, PowerPoint would provide a better illustration of a mind map for a sighted person.
