[stylist] Using Blackboard

Brenda,
Blackboard should be accessible. I am still using MS Office 2002 and
JAWS 10, and Blackboard has never been a problem. Not only have I used
BB frequently through the past four years, but in my experience, unless
people have directly worked with JAWS, they have no idea how it works or
what to do with it. My university is a pretty big state school, and the
I T people are exceptionally smart and knowledgeable about most computer
programs and software, but when it comes to JAWS, they were always at a
loss as to what to do. Twice, I used university computers that had JAWS
installed on them, and both times, JAWS wasn't working. The only answer
the IT people had was to keep reinstalling it, which didn't solve
anything. The second time, I got permission to have my own person come
to fix it. After this, I only used my laptop unless it was for text, in
which I had to use a university computer in its testing center. This has
been my experience in all situations where I had to deal with geek
squads who hadn't worked with JAWS before. I can't imagine BB would not
work for you since I've been using it with very few problems, and my
husband, also a JAWS user, uses it solely for his grad program.
Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

Hi Jacqueline
FYI When I checked with writersdigest.com this week, they said they use
blackboard and said it is not accessible to people using screen readers.
