Barbara,

Oh, this is cute, smile. I like the line about a cannibal stealing it,
and in the end, the line about a thumb and some gum fitting in the
mouth. Very cute. Maybe digging too deep, but could be almost like a
nursery rhyme but really saying something bigger about complaining.
Sorry, been on a nursery rhyme kick lately doing a little research into
it, giggle. Either way, this poem made me smile.

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter

Here, Bridgit. It's written in quatrains as most of my stuff is.

     THE SORE THUMB

By Barbara Hammel

MY thumb hurts! My thumb hurts!
Ohhhh, the pain!
My thumb hurts! My thumb hurts!
It's making me insane!

Ohhhh, what can you do
When your thumb is sore?
I guess just complain,
And complain some more.

I guess you could sleep
So that you won't feel it
But then a baby cannibal
Might come and steal it.

I guess you could cry
To make it feel better
But all that will do
Is make your hand wetter.

So next time remember,
When sucking your thumb,
There's not room in your mouth
For a thumb; and some gum!

Barbara
