I liked that, a little light a little dark.  Currently I'm reading "The Big Sky"; although I usually read SciFi, a good Western every now and then is a nice change of pace.

Listening to the insects

Imagining the praying mantis sawing away at the wasp in its clutches

The wasp licking the honey off the tongue 

of the bee it just killed 

 

I'm sitting under a Sycamore tree

Remembering my mother-in-law

So sick at the end she couldn't speak

My wife's mournful sobs

Glad that I'm blind

 

I'm sitting under a Sycamore tree

Listening to a book

'Pilgrim at Tinker Creek'

Sun on my face

Living in the present

I can't help but smile

 

I'm sitting under a Sycamore tree

Trying to find the words

For a letter to a friend whose husband recently died

Dear Janet

Procrastinating

 

I'm sitting under a Sycamore tree

Dancing with the muse

Glad to be alive
