Nice poem. I remember when I used to love snow, before I had to shovel it and back when my body bounced better after I fell on the ice.

I’ll paste the poem here, but attach it also, so it keeps its original form.

     WINTER WOE

 By Barbara Hammel

The light blue sky of springtime blunts

  the white of melting snow.

If winter had been snowy I'd

be glad to see it go.

But since the days have been so warm '

it makes me feel so low.

My fav'rite season of the year

  is wintertime, you know.

I love the snow and hate to see

  it melting in the spring,

Although it makes me happy know-

  ing lilacs it will bring.

But here we are, about to thread

  this season on the string,

Of swiftly passing years that fly

  like birds upon the wing.

I know that springtime really is

  at least six weeks away,

But I have not much hope of time

  to go outside and play,

Because the air is warm and sun

  is shining bright today.

I'm sad we did not have the kind

of year where snow will stay.

But now the lighter sky of spring

  has turned from winter hue--

You know, that shade that makes snow white,

  for its a deeper blue--

And when the sky says, "season change",

we all know it is true.

Alas! I guess I'll have to wait

  till winter comes anew.

Yet I would gladly have wind blow

and mounds of white stuff fling,

Just one more blast of winter spray,

then spring can come in view.

Barbara
