It's called Christmas Is ...
When the poems come through, they lose their stanza structure. I generally
write poems with four-line stanzas and the second and fourth lines rhyme.

Barbara,
Nice poem and i like the elements of Christmas all compacted in it and it
has some imagery.
Does this sort of poem have a name? I noticed some rhyming, but
I think it was only every other line.
Curious, as I do not know much about poetry.

Okay, I didn’t just write this but I wanted to make sure I got something
posted. (I’ve almost 300 pages to go in that book and all I want to do is
read it so can’t think of writing.)

    CHRISTMAS IS ...

Christmas is snowflakes

That dance on the breeze

And rest on the boughs

Of evergreen trees.

Christmas is candles

In windows at night

That speak of good cheer

With their gentle light.

Christmas is Jesus

Who came down to earth

As God in the flesh

When Mary gave birth.

Christmas is presents

Piled under the tree

To symbolize those

Brought by wisemen three.

Christmas is candy

Homemade by mother

With little helpers,

Sister and brother.

Christmas is pine trees

Dressed up to the hilt

In sparkles and light

And color and gilt.

Christmas is letters

You write out with care

Because through the year

There's not time to share.

Christmas is singing

Of peace and good cheer

With fam'ly gathered

>From far and from near.

Christmas is Santa

Who visits the tots

Who've written wish lists

With crayons or dots.

Christmas is eggnog

That many folks buy

When elves are busy

And eight reindeer fly.

Christmas is stockings

That Santa Claus fills

With toys for the good

Little Jacks and Jills.

Christmas is snowmen

That little hands mold

When children are out

In the wintry cold.

Christmas is magic

And mystery and love,

A special season

Sent down from above.

For Christmas is God

As a man-child born

To die on a cross

And raise up one morn.

Barbara
