[stylist] Please read my new article & give feedback

Brenda,
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my article. First of all,
I don't consider the issues you mention in terms of accessible home
appliances to be small potatoes. Neither does the NFB. I understand that is
this very issue that the NFB would like to tackle first. Accessible home
appliances would not only allow blind people to live more independently, but
they would go a long way in demonstrating to the people around us that we
are capable of more than they give us credit for.

In terms of Window Eyes, I am aware of it as my brother Jeff as well as Jim
Antonacci, president of the NFB of PA, with whom I work on PR use it. I
didn't include it, because Robert Johnston didn't mention it, and it wasn't
the program that the company who theoretically tests the software they got.
I'm hoping that, if Suite 101 doesn't shut me down entirely, I will
eventually get a Window Eyes user for my series.
Donna

Hi Donna

I did read your article. It is very sad but true. I can't even use my
bread machine or oven without sighted assistance. That is small
potatoes compared to the issues you present. I am glad you considered
all nonprint readers not just the totally blind. I was very
disappointed that you only mentioned Jaws. Window eyes is a great
screen reader with great tech support who will work with people to make
things work for individual programs. There is a lot more I can say
about Window eyes. Seems like a lot of State agencies have settled on
Jaws without considering other options. this does not mean that
government agencies should not have to fix accessibility out of the box,
but I was disappointed that you did not include Window Eyes.

I did enjoy your article, I would like to see your points more widely
disseminated. I would like to see the national news or 60 minutes etc
present these issues.
