Ashley,
I agree that it isn't that big of a deal, but it does take extra
time, which
some don't have. Also, there is also the issue of the times
when something
inserts a line break and then when you paste it into IE's Open
dialog, it
doesn't work right. It's a bother to go through long URLs one
character at a
time to see if there's a line break somewhere and/or to confirm
that the
entire thing made it to the Open dialog.

Hi,
If the link won't work in an email, I just copy and paste it in.
Why is that

such a big deal? I mean its just two extra keystrokes!

Hi Dave,
Please don't feel defensive. I'm just trying to figure this out.
I'm hoping
you can tell me what other settings to check. I use Outlook
2003, and under
tools/options/e-mail format/, the "Compose in this format" combo
box is set
to html. I'm really not sure where else to look.

I've experimented with other e-mails, and the ones that show up
as html
documents have live links, while the ones like Stylist that show
up as text
documents read like their live when Jaws encounters them, but
they don't
work. I tried saving one as html, but it doesn't show up as a
choice. Jaws
reads links in .doc format like they're live too, but they
aren't.

I tried again to enter the link at the bottom of your e-mail, and
although
Jaws says "link," entering on it doesn't work. Also, when I use
"u" to go to
next unvisited link, nothing happens.

Sorry for the trouble; I just want to be able to go to the links
people post
and want them to be able to go to the ones I post without copying
and
pasting and removing line breaks.
Thanks,
Donna

Well, at the risk of sounding defensive -- I have not changed any
settings for the list that would impact the content, or footer.
The
links in the footer in my mail program are appearing as links.

Check your local settings.

Hi Peter,

Lately, I've noticed that people including myself are having
trouble going
to links posted to the Stylist list. For instance, today, I
tried clicking
on Cheryl's blog and, although the link seemed live to Jaws, it
didn't go
anywhere. Then, I tried entering on one of the standard links at
the bottom
of all Stylist e-mails -- in this case, it was in Robert's post
-- and
again
I got nowhere. People have mentioned that they can't get to my
articles
when
I post those links, and that a line break seems to have been
inserted.

I notice that the e-mail is text only, and to the best of my
knowledge,
there are never any live links in .txt files. Did our list
recently change?
I checked my other e-mails, like the one Robert sent out to the
membership
which did not go through the list about the monthly meeting.
This was an
html document, though his message to the llist was .txt.

Anyway, wondering if you know what's going on. We all often post
links, and
it would be better if we could enter on them directly rather than
copying
them to another document and deleting the line breaks that show
up in
longer
URLs.

Not everyone seems to have the problem, so that confuses me as
well.

Thanks,

Donna
