[stylist] Another poem about alternative healing

Myrna,
I do not know what happened to "Bubbles" which was about Transcendental
Meditation, but I will try this one about healing stones, and the medicine
wheel.
What an interesting story about your grandmother, and background, and a good
reason for an innate interest in alternative healing.
I searched all of the avenues when my son disappeared, and one was through
American Indian practices since my son had studied them extensively.
A friend in Idaho built a medicine wheel for Scott, and for my use also in
the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. Everything in this poem is true to my
search for meaning at this time. I still have his medicine bag filled with
healing stones hanging above my bed
Somehow, I still feel, however, that the true healing comes from the writing
about it all. It gives a permanence to the thoughts and feelings.
Unfortunately, Marcy has written me that the medicine wheel has been
destroyed by vandals, or hikers. But it was there when I needed it.
Jackie

Count me in! For a very special and personal reason I would so look
forward to this. My grandmother was a midwife and herbal healer, or
'treateuse', in the Cajun culture. She delivered over 500 babies during
her time and
I was the last of these deliveries so when I saw I was born in the small
community I grew up in, I mean I was born and raised there. I can remember

helping my grandmother crush the herbs she made teas with and also
ointments. I wrote what I suppose might be called a 'memoir' about her
called 'The
Willows Weep'. She was a special lady and was loved by so many. She did
not speak much English though she could understand quite a bit of it. I,
on
the other hand, understood the French but did not speak it well. So she
spoke French to me and I spoke to her and we understood each other
perfectly. I know that was a long story just to say I'm interested too but
I wanted
to share why I was so interested in it.

Myrna

Oh Atty, That is a wonderful idea. How do we do it? I am totally up for it.
Not just alternative healing though, but preventative health and natural
living. All geared for the blind. We all do input and learn from each
other. Let's do it. Let's do it. I am sure Lynda would also be on board.
Peace be with us, Eve
