[stylist] It just came to me

WOW!

The classic workings of an evil mind; there aught to be a story there.

Well, Eve,
You have just made it a lot easier to interpret your poem by giving
permission to show the outrageous workings of our minds about something we
can only speculate about.
What might you keep on a mantle? The ashes of a spouse. I know several men
who do this.
In old coffee cans? If you had enough dead spouses, and you wanted to
disguise that fact because you murdered them.
Wow, I can just run with this. The varieties of cans indicate the favorite
flavor of coffee that each
Miserable husband preferred when he was ignoring her and reading the morning
paper rather than noticing how perfectly she had cleaned the house after he
had left everything the night before. Filled ash trays, area rugs
disarranged with dirty socks and shoes left in his wake.
She had loved the one who had loved Folgers. That was before her infant son
had died because of a peanut allergy. Those two required something special.
A rose which she could not afford but once a week, which wilted as did her
love . He was the only one who had kept passion alive even when she
tip-toed up to their bedroom after hours of cleaning , trying to avoid it.
and sweet pea and baby breath which she found daily to keep her love and
loss for her infant son forever alive.
Arsenic and old afghans and lace. Oh, that amber fluid. In a moment of
euphoria, she put it in the glass cigarette lighter, almost hoping a smoking
gentleman would call again.
But how much space was left on the mantle? She must contain herself. She
must content herself with the plastic Folgers can with low-acid coffee for
herself, knowing she would never join the guilt-ridden procession of metal
coffee cans. Her absolution would continue to be the cutting of her lilac
bush with its lovely flowers surrounding and negating the terrible memories
of distasteful men.
I could go on, but I am one hundred percent sure that you would prefer me to
stop!
All in good humor. This may encourage you to tell me your original meaning.
It is a terrific poem
  Jackie

Thank you all. And I realized I made another oops in regards to you guys.
I directed a comment to Myrna that was meant for Jaqueline. Does not matter
if y'all can understand the meaning. I hope you are reading the last
revised edition. haha It was kinda fun to write. Jaqueline, here is a
hint... What else could be put into old coffee cans and what is
traditionally placed on the mantle? I guess that is two hints, but I do not
know what to say without giving it away. You guys should know by now I do
not like making things too easy for you. hahaha Have a cup and think it
over. Eve
