[stylist] Five random word poem

Shawn,
How wonderful. Not just the expanded poem, but the fact that you submitted
it to Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. I have long been a fan of
Asimov, for reasons even beyond his writing.
Do you know if they have printed poetry before? So many publications do not
accept that genre. Even if they do not, they may in your case.
I will be thinking positively.
A magazine like that could truly inspire a re-thinking of the blind
experience, which you have so effectively done.

Reunion 100

For the 100th reunion
of the last class at Iowa Braille
some graduates returned from the stars
riding beams of light straight as a rule.
With resplendent glory they arrived
bearing tales for places far away
with strange exotic life.

They compelled the attention of scoffers
who had claimed blind guys could not ride the light.
Such things could not be.
It was uncanny, bizarre, an affront to nature,
an insult to reason.
They had to admin they were wrong.

But then why should this not be
for it is joy and wonder that bids us ride the light.
Mere eyesight does not suffice it will not prevail
and its lack is no bar
to our quest for the universe.

With wonder and joy
we pierce light's canopy
to focus our dreams.

Here's my shot at the five random word poem.

As I remember it, the words were reunion, admit, attention, light, and rule.
