Hi,
good to know. I'm glad you contacted David first.
I'll see if I can share something soon.

Ashley,
Yes, the first thing I did was to contact Dave Andrews. He said it was not
the maintenance procedure. Also, I do belong to a weekly critique group in
Scottsdale. It is wonderful and my most important source of learning. But I
still cannot critique like so many members of this group. Of course, mine is
a poetry group, and until this list, I never studied fiction and non-fiction
writing.
Due to this, I have saved all of the writings in folders, and slowly get
around to studying, usually well after they have been critiqued by others.
The lost or deleted e-mails were an acknowledgment of many of those stories,
and how you all catch the ball and run with it. The subjects lines were the
same, and I realize now that I should change the subject line or many might
not have the time or motivation to revisit something that goes back so far
and might be a re-hash. It's all part of the learning process.
You have been very active in responding to everyone, and steady in your
encouragement of all.
I do thank you so much.

Jacque,
If you are concerned about the list running, ask David andrews who can tell
you if any technical problems are occurring.
As to the decreased messages, remember that even in high traffic times,
about six or seven participate. I haven't gotten messages in the past week.

Its just like that sometimes. People are busy.
That said, now that I have more time, I thought about posting some
questions.
Lists are not the only venue for feedback remember. Don't take lack of
traffic, even to your own writing, personally.
I'd suggest joining a live writing group like at your library for
ongoing feedback.

No I don't think its your email program since on my end this list was quiet
in the past few weeks. Don't worry, it will liven up again.

Robert,
I wrote recently to comment on what I thought were lost e-mails, and was
assured that it was not related to the work on the website. However from
just before that work, I had spent many hours sending feedback, comments, a
new poetry form to Myra, etc. to regular members.
In my experience, it is not normal for all of those to completely stonewall
someone. This is about the third time this has happened in my history on the
list.
Just a few comments on that. I am frustrated when I spend a lot of time, and
there is no response. I am saving a great deal of time now because all but a
very few have dropped off.
However, the input from the wider group has provided an on-going education
which is invaluable.
So how do I know what the real problem really is. Perhaps everyone just
found the process too time-consuming?

When Slate & style shows up on our website, it is one issue behind Meaning,
spring is coming out and will be sent to people in a couple of weeks. Then,
the winter issue will go up on our website, and will not show up on-line
until the Summer issue is sent out to members/subscribers.

I initially was distributing S & S as an accessible PDF, but quite a few
people did not like this. I know this is different from offering various
formats on the website, but the PDF, though fully accessible, didn't seem a
popular option.

Good morning everyone,

When Slate and Style is placed on the Web site in addition to the online

version it's offered in three downloadable file formats, ASCII, Rich Text,
and Microsoft Word. If Robert could send them to me I could also place
electronic Grade II Braille files on the site too. We can also generate
Adobe PDF versions for those who would like it that way. One or more of the
downloadable versions currently available should work for you so give them
all a try.
