Lynda, you truly had an artist soul and speak from that source. Keep up the
--- art!

Thanks, Ashley, for your comments this morning.
This piece of fiber art was selected to be exhibited in the Hoyt Mid
Atlantic Exhibition, New Castle, PA.

For anyone who can use magnification, you can find the pictures of this work
on my blog . Click on the address below to find the picture and the story
behind the art work.

To answer your questions:
The girl sits surrounded by the flowers as I have described them. She is in
a field of flowers and butterflies - in black and white; with a myriad of
brilliant red carved coral gem stone roses. It is a dreamscape, an yet
it's my reality in one moment of a day in the late 1940s.

The little girl is an icon of time and place. She embodies the spirit of
every little girl who dreams of flowers and chases after butterflies on a
hot August afternoon. Yes, she is sitting there looking directly at you,
the viewer. Yes, you see her seated in her freshly ironed plaid dress, on
the bench. She looks at you across time and space, and she connects with you
directly as you stand there watching her.

There are very many blind artists. How can that be? It is because art is not
created with the eyes or through the eyes. It is created with the entire
body of the artist; all the senses. Art is in our soul and our spirit, and
it is there from the moment of our birth. There is no disability that can
keep art from surfacing in the person who is an artist. Our lives are art
centered. Loss of sight just provides different pathways for us in our
production of the product we create.
