I'm not that techy but I think embedded text is basically when 
there is text in the file that isn't a graphic ...  So a PDF 
converter without OCR could read it.  And that is an e-mail 
address, not a website :)

If you want, you can google Robobraille, it'll probably come up

Embedded text will read OK and a lot of files have that.
Otherwise, I think if you e-mail your image-only file to
convert at robobraille.org, in a few minutes it should send you back
a plain text (.txt) version of that file

Thank you both.  I had Adobe and did not realize there were
different
versions.  I followed David's link and downloaded the reader.
Now I have a
new issue.  The thing I was so excited to read, which also would
have been a
great source for my own work that does not seem to fit anywhere
else, is
unreadable.  Perhaps is that how all PDF files are? Pictures of
pages, in
other words "graphics" rather than text documents? I cannot read
graphics.
I am so frustrated.  oh well.  Thanks for getting me this far.
