[stylist] new poem

I liked Wilson Phillips in the 90's, but now, I just can't listen to it.
Never been a big country fan especially of current pop-country, but I do
like some of the old-time country like Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and
Patsy Cline, and of course who doesn't enjoy Reba McIntire and Garth
Brooks. My music sense is pretty eclectic, from rock to rap to pop to
alternative to showtunes to classical to hip-hop... My music collection
is pretty broad. Baby and I like to dance too, so anything with a good
beat, smile.

My hubby and I love to walk and jog on a nearby walking trail, but I
suffer from severe low blood pressure, and there are days it's enough to
just walk across the house let alone jog or a brisk walk. I do it as I
can, which is most days, but from time-to-time, I just can't. I really
hat this, and I don't like being weak.

Bridgit

Thanks for looking over my poem; I'm glad you liked it. It is a bit sad
because I used to take walks for pleasure and to relax before my knees
started to betray me. Also, Wilson Phillips was the last pop group I
was a real fan of (I mostly listen to country music now).

Shawn,

Good job. I like how you make cultural and time-period references by
simply stating a song/group from the 90's plus the use of a walkman.
Little details like this provide setting without having to spell it out.
This poem has a mellow feel to it even though it's nostalgic and perhaps
a little sad depending on perspective.

OK, I'm back writing poetry, been away too long.

Shawn

Song Strider
Once upon a time
Back in Walkman days of yore
angel voices sang
In those days fondly remembered
I jacked a tape into my Walkman and strode forth.
Voices as if from angels filled my head.
Wilson Phillips bade me hold on for one more day.
As on my evening ritual rounds I did travel.
In these younger times
music pumping though my head
walking was a joy.
My body strode along,
before the twinge of aching knees.
I climbed the hill without trepidation
and from the summit could survey
the path ahead, the path behind
and know the beauty of sight and sound.
So with the music
I strode in evenings cool
in times remembered.
