WOW yes, a comparison article would be super nice! So I too think this is a
very good idea. I as a blind writer, need to know of available tools of the
trade. And I as a JAWS user, I would like to learn what other screen readers
offer.

My thought was that most our readers use screenreaders, many JAWS. And since
JAWS has a new version out with some special features, some may find it
interesting and informative to learn how to best utilize this program when
writing. I'm in no way against articles discussing other programs in the
same way. It's just that this is an upgraded version, and if anyone has
hands-on experience, they could address how to use this program when
writing.

And I'm in no way supporting one program or way over another, but JAWS is
the screenreader officially sponsored by the Federation, and S & S is a
Federation publication, so... I see no problem. And again, I welcome any
article addressing how programs specific to blind people, screenreaders and
magnification, can be used to their full benefit when writing.

Hi,
This is just an opinion. I feel that this is opening up a can of worms.
We could say that JAWS 15 has the nice new features for Windows 8, then
someone else could say that NVDA has had that feature for a year, and
someone else could say that Window-eyes has this feature or other, and well,
I think S and S should stay away from such things unless some screen reader
feature helps someone write better for some reason.

Thanks.

Jim

It would be great to have an informative article about JAWS 15 for the
winter or spring issue of S & S. Anyone interested in writing such an
article can contact me.
