Hi you all

#1 Our Monthly Telephone Gatherings: First, we did not have a gathering this
month because the last Sunday, today, is part of a holiday. In the past, we
learned that many of us are not available on holiday weekends. And so August
was out --- but coming up, we will have a gathering in September, October.
Then comes November with the last Sunday again being part of a four day
holiday weekend, then comes December, with the end of the month also being
more of a holiday time, than not --- and so, we will do as we have found to
work for these two months, we will have a gathering during the second
weekend.

My need here is: For September, it has been suggested we feature writing
related jobs or businesses that can be done from home. Do you know of anyone
that fits this criteria who we could ask to be a speaker on the call? I
think that if we handle this right, we could have five or six guests that
can speak to their home-bound money making - writing venture. (I know of
three people who may be able to come onto the call. Who do you know?

For October, one of our division leaders is looking into inviting a college
writing instructor to be our guest. And so any ideas for the Nov-Dec
gatherings?

#2 The new Writers' Division website is up. This is not the official
version, but a one page temp site until the full new version is ready to go.
And we do have a new web address, too --- http://writers.nfb.org (Note: you
don't have to include the www in this address, if you do that works as
well.) Check it out: it welcomes you; speaks about our mission; gives a
PayPal button to renew or open a new membership; a PayPal button for
donations; a link to the National office and specifically to the vehicle
donation program. Note; Also in relation to membership, there is a link to a
Word document which lays out the benefits of membership with the Division.

#3 "Where the Blind Work:" Did you see one of the recent posts calling for
federation members to fill out a job description form for our Federation's
employment resource, "Where the Blind Work?" This is a joint project that we
started and for some time had partnered with the Jernigan Institute, and now
also the Employment committee. Here is the form, read it and if you have not
filled it out, do so!!!

The Jernigan Institute, Employment Committee and the Writers' Division have

that you had been engaged in recently, or both.

The collection of descriptions is divided into twelve generalized
categories. They are: Administrative and Office Careers;
Business/Entrepreneurial Careers; Computer Specialists; Customer Service;
Education Careers; Financial Careers; Government Careers; Human Services;

Medical Careers; Vocational Jobs.
