Good deal, I am anxious to see what is in it!(As in who, too?)

Oh, and Kerry Thompson had been collecting holiday materials for a Writers'
Division anthology. See if she still has some of that work; I may have, too.

Subject: [stylist] Slate & Style update

Division and Stylist members,

As luck would have it, just as S & S was ready to go, my internet went
down. It's been out for a week, but back and up again, finally. So the
summer issue of Slate & Style will arrive shortly.

I'm hoping to put together a special issue of the magazine for the
holidays. If you have short fiction, poetry or memoir/personal essay
pieces you think would fit, or you want to write something, please send
by November first. Not all submissions will be used, but we will
consider each sent by November first. I'm hoping to have enough of a
response to do this holiday issue.

A few things to keep in mind:

It doesn't have to be about Christmas, though it certainly can. It can
relate to the upcoming holiday season in any way, and it can involve any
practice, tradition, religion and/or custom you wish that is celebrated
or practiced around the holiday season.

Edgy and gritty are welcome. Nothing wrong with sentimentality, but be
honest and realistic in your approach. A sentimental piece will
certainly not be excluded, but neither will pieces that are darker or
edgier in nature. It's a Wonderful Life wasn't full of sunshine and
rainbows and puppies, and A Christmas Story used wit and sarcasm.

Please submit following regular S & S guidelines, which can be found in
each issue and on the website. You can also email me with questions.

I'm hoping we can make a go of this. Remember, you have a month to
submit.

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter, editor, Slate & Style
