OH, Thea, thanks so much. I can give you a wuick update - we are now 4
months into the journey with Bob and Acute Myeloid Leukemia, AKA AML, a
deadly disease.

That first writing told about the first episode when he was given a drug to
help him sleep. Instead, it made him disoriented and he hallucinated and
tore out the tubes for his centeral line - a TRIPLE LUMEN, which means he
has THREE lines coming out of aan artery that goes into his heart. In all,
he had three very bad experiences with narcotics - and it is very clear that
he can never be given such drugs again for any reason - there were three
near-death episodes during the past 4 months caused by 3 different narcotics
for pain. Now, he can only take Tylenol.
To date, he has completed three rounds of chemo - his first hospitalization
was for one month and he has been given two different kinds of chemo
simultaneously in a coctail that in given through the central line, 24/l7.
Two more subsequent stays and two more round of chemo followed. He came
home again, for the third time on July 12. We received "the call" from the
transplant director on Friday - a match has been found for him and we have
to go next Monday, August 18th, to a 4-6 hour meeting with the team and the
psychiatrist - to learn what comes next. We have been told to bring family
and friends along for this meeting - Meanwhile, Bob has been very good the
past week or so, doing yard work, and even riding his motorcycle just a
little bit - his weight went down to 109 pounds after the third round of
chemo - and it has gone up just a little bit the past few days since he is
now eating pizza from the local pizza shop three times a day trying to get
some weight back on his very very emancipated body. He came home from
getting some gas in his motorcycle last week and said it was "just too
much." I guess weighing only 109 pounds and driving a 500 pound bike is not
such a great idea. Just a week ago, he had to go to the hospital three
different days and get 8 different blood transfusions. This week, he has
been good - so far. He has slept a lot the past couple of dyas which is
good. Bob has said, "I may not look very good, but I hafe Spirit." He sure
does.

I started a FaceBook Community Page for him so we can keep folks informed
about Bob's journey and also for information on this disease. The symptoms
are subtle and once you know them, and put them together, you realize
something is wrong - so we hope someone else may get an early warning if
they should have this disease so they can get help much sooner than Bob did.
For anyone who might want to see Bob's story on FaceBook you can just go to
the page and click on it any time you like. I was so surprised last week
when one of the posts got over 600 visitors - so many people are checking in
to see Bob's journey and most of all those people are possibly praying for
him which is the most important part of his healing process. We walk by
faith, not by sight on this journey and it's all in God's hands. Thank you
for asking, Thea.

We called it "Bob Lambert Diary" to give updates and photos to the public
about this journey.

Oh my goodness, the poor man.
And I can only imagine how exhausted and scared you must be.

Thanks, robert. You all kind of know Bob from some of the things I have
written - motorcycling, dancing in the kitchen on a winter day, opening the
door for the "snow bunnies" and more.

Last night was a scene from a horror movie - I won't go into details but he
was disoriented and confused, and took off the tubes that are connected to
the "line" in his chest - an artery. Fortunately, he was found in time - but
it was the worst possible scene the nurse could imagine seeing when she took
a look into his room around 1:15 am.
My days and nights are filled with making plans for visiting and other
things we have to do now - everything is centered around getting Bob well
again and meeting the needs as they come up each day. Thank you all for
your prayers - for that is what will bring him through - and I do mean
"bring him T H R O U G H - Lynda
