Hi Blinks,

Here's a poem I've been working on this afternoon. I say this is a
first draft, though it really took a lot of beating and batting and
futzing around to get it in its present shape. Anyway, hope there's
something here for you to enjoy. Poem follows below my sig.

It's a wise gentleness

I like to see in Superman

so he's not just a

flying bully,

a cop in a cape.

but a hero in truth:

half eagle,half angel

yet comedian too,

light enough to cheat

gravity's sullen fist.

yet grave as a savior

Oh, the new one's fine,

bright and handsome as wheat.

But Mr. Reeves knew the score:

how Kal-El loved Lois,

yet owed his new world more

than sated hunger.

Which makes him great,

and strong,

and dumb

as a mountain boulder,

and funny as burning snow.

But you, Mr. Reeves,

were even greater

than Superman

in your unkryptonian self,

thrown from that horse,

you sought to fly again

and though you nevermore

charmed the set with that

mildest of smiles,

that face of Apollo reborn,

you taught patience, courage, the strength

which comes from knowing

that every woman, man and chiold

is hero embryonic:

a hero,

a marvel,

a star.
