Bill,
One of your more simple, straight-forward poems, but as always, I enjoy
it.
For me, it seems this poem takes the stance that Eve was not engaging in
evil but curiosity, which is a part of discovering truth and wisdom.
I like the last three lines, Our Eve saw all the pigments
of which the serpent was one
and wanted to paint.
To me, this is the poem saying Eve wanted to seek curiosity, she wanted
to discover the world and all its wonders. I think it can also suggest
she wanted to take control of all she learns.
BTW, what type of poem is this? I have problems identifying poetic
structures and formats, so curious about this one.

Subject: [stylist] Poem - "Eve"
Hello Blinks,
Here's a poem I wrote a couple of days ago. It's in a less literary
form that I'm working on now, less concerned with certain literary
effects. Also, it seems a subject appropriate to late Sunday afternoon.

Eve
Let's say I believe the Book
the same way I believe in apples and curiosity.
Eve, then, our mother first
was nobody's dupe; and the snake was no devil
but a wise townsman in that primest of towns.
"See all of the colors?" he said,
that giddy green mayor.
Our Eve saw all the pigments
of which the serpent was one
and wanted to paint.
