[stylist] contests

Some of the laws in some states are just plain silly, For example, I heard that in
Rhode Island, it was illegal to buy a toothbrush and toothpaste set together on
Sunday.
It would be interesting how many times these are actually enforced. I bet there's
not one persn in charge of seeing who enters writing contests.

Hi Atty,

This is interesting, and surprising to me, and probably most of our members.
I didn't read everything you sent, but the first link it to a document by a
lawyer, and she certainly seems to know what she's talking about. And,
indeed, it seems like having a writing contest, at least, a large scale
writing contest, is illegal in some states. My guess is that no state
official would pay much attention unless it was a big contest, involving a
large amount of money, but then again, who knows?

The way around it, I suppose, is to work with a friend or colleague in
another state where there's no legal issues.
