Eve and List...
This is neat/thought provoking.
What's funny is in Russian my husband says they have a word that they use
like like, but it's a profanity, so imagine going around and using a profane
word all the time for filler. LOL. Of course he never did it, but when he
told me the word I started noticing it in some of the older Russian music we
have even. LOL. Not like modern rap or anything, but they've got that too.
I believe that filler is meant to be expressive when there is no time to
think of a deeper form of expression. This society has become so...go go go
and do and there is no time to fully dedicate to all the things people want
to be involved in. Sadly I am guilty of that being on so many email groups
of various sorts, working and working on writing, and going out to the gym
to work out, whatever, being tired or busy really makes short cuts look
good. Like mycrowaving dinner, it's like mycrowaving words. LOL.
Though, Eve, if someone is smiling, and writes smiles, I'm not sure that I
see that as the same, though I am interested as a writer of how you'd advise
not using or changing that as you suggested, as you used smile and such
along with the other words. I found smile better than LOL because often one
is just smiling at the thought of something rather than actually laughing
out loud as LOL indicates, so I saw it as more actually fitting. So
interested in your creative suggestions there.

I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed.
I get along with the voices inside of my head.
